Detox Week 2013, 3 Day Detox Jumpstart
This week, we’re rolling out the best detox diet plans for losing weight, restoring digestive function, and boosting energy. In collaboration with some of the country’s top doctors and nutrition specialist, we are dedicating each article to a particular detox diet and making recommendations for foods and supplements that will ensure maximum effectiveness.
What is a Detox Cleanse?
A detox, or digestive cleanse, is a short-term diet plan designed to repair the gut in order to propel weight loss, boost immunity, and clean the digestive system to maintain efficiency. Dr. Alejandro Junger, a respected guest on a popular TV show and the medically renowned “Father of Detox,” has formulated a plan outlined in his books, Clean Detox Diet and Clean Your Gut, to jumpstart health with a 3-day detox.
How Can I Boost My Energy with a 3 Day Detox?
According to Dr. Alejandro Junger, the gut is much more than a space to house the digestive organs. It is also the body’s second brain, home to millions of active neurons and the majority of the immune system. When the digestive system becomes bogged down and the gut flora is not present at optimal levels, the entire body experiences sluggishness. Inflammation that begins in the gut has far-reaching effects that cause inflammation of the skin, bloating of the belly, and fatigue of the body and mind. The cure? According to Dr. Junger, it can be as simple as a 3 Day Detox.
Why should I try the 3 Day Detox?
We could all use an energy boost, and the health benefits that can be reaped from the 3 Day Detox are pretty enticing. So, how difficult would it be to implement the 3 Day Detox into an already jam-packed lifestyle? (We’ve all heard stories of multi-day detox fasts, complicated soup recipe diets, and liquid-only diets that seem to require superhuman willpower.) As it turns out, this plan is rather simple, with a grocery list of fresh fruits and vegetables and a short list of natural supplements that can be delivered straight to your door!
Dr. Junger’s cleanse is an immune and digestive system detox designed to trigger gut repair which will in turn boost energy and maximize digestion and nutrient absorption. The plan requires a three 3 Day Detox commitment during which time you will sip delicious smoothies and start a healthy supplement regimen that will rebalance the ratio of good bacteria in your gut and maximize the efficiency of digestion in your body.
What will I need for the 3 Day Detox?
Recommended All Natural Supplements:
Plant Based Protein Powder
Your Choice of Probiotics

where it says ” Day 1 — Breakfast ,lunch ,dinner, does it
mean a meal three times with your detox regiment or it simply means
vegetable derived protein shake as a replacement to
breakfast-lunch-dinner?
For breakfast, your prebiotic shake is your meal, adding your supplements and plant protein powder as directed. For lunch and dinner, where it annotates “meal,” you prepare a meal from the food choices outlined in the plan alongside your supplements as directed. Some meal ideas can be found in another recent post at http://blog.nourishingworld.com/2013/06/18/dr-oz-3-day-cleanse-meals-and-supplements/ . Let me know if you have any other questions I can help you with.
Question. Dr Oz. detox plan shows to take the Veganzyme 3 times a day, The directions according to the bottle says that a serving size is two capsules and to only take 2 capsules twice daily. What should I do? Do I break one dosage into two? 1 capsule for one meal and take the other for the next meal? Like, I take 2 capsules in the am for breakfast, 1 for lunch, and 1 for dinner? or should I still do 2 capsules per meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner)? Please advise as I want to do this detox and want to do it right and safely. Also is it ok to do this same regimen for more than 3 days? If so, up to how long? If not, what kind of plan can i continue with next? BTW, I want to do this detox plan along with my insanity workout from beach body. My plan is to start the detox plan first to clean everything out and feel more energized before i start my insanity workout (which this workout plan is for 60 days)
Please help!! Thank you!!
I would do the two capsules three times daily for the multi-enzyme for the three days. After that I would switch to 1 three times daily or the recommended 2 twice daily. Detox diets are designed to be done for a certain amount of time. I wouldn’t continue this for longer than the 3 days. The supplements are great to continue for longer, but the rest should be stopped after the three days. A great long-term diet for high energy is the Paleo diet. Which is essentially a diet high in whole, un-processed (preferably free-range or organic) meats, and fresh vegetables and fruits. Processed foods, sugar, flour, grains and legumes are eliminated from the diet. Honey and some sugar alternatives are OK, but cane and beet sugar are not. There is an absolute ton of information on the Paleo diet on the internet and in book stores. My cousin lost over 50 lbs when she switched and my husband reversed his diabetes. It can be a remarkable lifestyle change.
Thanks for this review of Dr Oz’s 3 Day Detox. Like his work and this product sounds interesting.
What are the recommended serving size of legumes and grains?
Hi Nora, Great Question! The portions for the meal recommendations on the 3 Day Detox Jumpstart are not specific to portion size. This is presumably done because the caloric intake/recommended daily allowance for meals is proportionate to a person’s weight, height, etc. The plan does, however, come with recommendations for how meals are planned, specifically the pairing of foods.
Dr. Junger’s plan pairs vegetables with either grains, beans or animal protein. Vegetables don’t require special enzymes for digestion and can be consumed in conjunction with a variety of foods. No additional energy is exerted on digesting vegetables, while grains, beans, and animal proteins require the body to expend energy. Junger suggests choosing either grains, beans, or animal protein since the digestive system would be burdened by trying to manufacture enzymes for several types of protein at once.
Can you have snacks between meals and if so, what type of snacks are recommended
The detox plan is pretty structured to include breakfast, lunch, and dinner without any snacks. The supplements and prebiotic shakes help clean the gut, which restores your energy and helps you lose weight in the process. Adding the plant-based protein powder to your smoothies should curb your appetite so that you won’t need snacks, and might help change snacking habits. When I do a 3 day detox, I tell myself, “You can do anything for 3 days!”
Can I drink coffee or tea in the morning?
Sorry, no coffee, tea, or sugar on this one. During the 3 Day Detox, it is recommended that you avoid dairy, processed sugar, caffeine, and alcoholic beverages. According to Dr. Junger, this “will allow your body to heal itself so you can get your energy back.”
Do I drink all of the prebiotic shake each day? Or do I drink the shake over a course of 3 days? In other words how many ounces of shake should I drink a day? Thanks!
The prebiotic shake recipe makes enough for one meal-sized serving. Drink the whole shake as your breakfast for each of the 3 days of your detox.
I have the Sun Warrior Blend raw protein -vanilla. I don’t see berberine on the list of ingredients. Can you clarify if it is under a different name?
Certainly! Berberine is alkaloid naturally biosynthesized from the amino acid tyrosine. It may not be listed as an ingredient, but you should find tyrosine on the amino acid profile listed with the supplement facts.
Are potatoes (white or sweet potato) OK to eat on the 3 day cleanse and should I expect to have additional elimination (urine and bowel movements) during the 3 days.
Lastly, how often can you use the 3 day plan?
Hi, Jackie.
1. When you’re planning each meal for your 3 day detox, try to pair veggies and your choice of either grains, beans or animal protein. Stay away from potato to get the maximum cleansing impact and give your body a rest.
2. You will probably notice a much more comfortable, regular elimination, but will not be tied to the bathroom, as is the experience with many detox and cleanse plans. You should be drinking more water than you regularly do, in lieu of snacking, which will of course provoke more urine.
3. How frequently you cleanse is really based on preference and how you feel. Some people start with a 3 day cleanse and decide to continue the supplements and eating a variation of the recommended diet on a daily basis. Some people notice their energy waning after a month and put themselves on a monthly detox maintenance. Others prefer a semi-monthly or annual cleanse. You’ll have a better understanding of what optimal gut health feels like after you do your 3 days, so you’ll be the best gauge.
Let us know if you have any more questions, and good luck!

Is this detox suitable for teenagers also ? How about those suffering with Crohn’s disease?
Hi Minu,
I would check with your doctor before starting any detox plan if you have a preexisting condition, especially in a person who’s body is still growing and developing. Generally, the supplements listed for this three day detox are recommended for people with GI difficulties. I would simply advise that you check in before making any changes to your diet or adding supplements. Please check back in and let me know how you make out.
I did the cleanse for 5 days and I have lost 8 lbs. I wanted to continue it for two weeks but I have questions about when to take the pills. My schedule is complicated. When I eat dinner during work days I do not take the magnesium pill until I get home. Is that ok and the days I don’t work is the pill suppose to be taken right after dinner or 3 hours later.
Hi Nikole,
Congratulations on your weight loss. 8 pounds is a big deal! The best time to take the magnesium, especially if you have a varied schedule, is right before bed. It will help stimulate your nervous system and the production of serotonin. This should help you sleep better at night, giving you more daytime energy, triggering a metabolism boost, and promoting weight loss. (A domino effect of benefits!) Wishing you continued success on your journey. It sounds like you are off to a great start.
What about fruit? Can I eat fruit in between meals if I feel I need a snack? I love having grapes, apples, blueberries, strawberries or oranges on hand for a quick healthy snack when needed. What about Almonds & Walnuts? I love nuts too.
Thanks Lori
For this short 3-Day cleanse, try not to snack in between meals and stick to the list. (For the other 362 days of the year though, those are awesome healthy snack choices!) Try increasing your water intake or distracting yourself with a phone call, a walk, or a project. You may find that the hunger you are experiencing is not actually hunger, but boredom. Having your stomach be partially empty will help you to more effectively digest food, and participating in a cleanse will help you change your eating habits. One of Dr. Junger’s recommendations is to add more protein powder to your shakes if you are feeling hungry during the day.
If you follow Dr. Junger’s 21-day Clean Program Cleanse, you are able to eat clean foods on the approved list which does include fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
My wife has irregular bowel movements and bloating sometimes that causes irritation and discomfort on her daily routine. Will 3 day detox be helpful for her? Do you recommend to do this cleanse monthly basis?
The 3 Day Detox is a great way to reset the digestive system and restore energy. It is also a great way to get more in tune with your body and be able to listen to its cues. After a cleanse, you wife will have a better idea of how her belly should feel and will know when it is time to do another cleanse because she will feel out of sync. She will have better clarity of mind, higher energy, and easier digestion. This may last for a month, or it may be longer, especially if she begins eating a very clean diet.
There are a lot of reasons that your wife could be having belly pain and bloat. If it is an ongoing problem, she should check in with her doctor about food allergies and other digestive concerns. If she feels better while on the cleanse but feels that bloat returning as soon as she goes back to eating normally, she might benefit from Dr. Junger’s 21 Day Clean Program Cleanse which requires a bit more dedication.
I’m excited about going on the 3 day detox. I currently take Inderal LA, Maxzide, Tricor, 1000 IU of B12 and Estroven energy on a daily basis. Will any of the ingredients of the detox program interfere with my daily medications? Thanks in advance for your help.
Hi Sue,
Please check with your doctor and pharmacist before starting a detox plan, particularly if you are still in the introduction phase of any of your medications. Although you may be a great candidate for a cleanse and may see a lot of health benefits from this one in particular, you are at a greater risk based on your medication profile and need to be monitored a little more closely than the average person. I don’t have your complete medical history, but from looking at your list, I will tell you right off that there is a potential concern regarding Maxzide and plant-based protein powder. Maxzide has a tendency to cause a fluctuation in the body’s potassium levels, resulting in either a low or high blood volume of potassium. This can create an electrolyte imbalance and, especially going into the summer where warmer temperatures can cause dehydration, be a potential concern. Plant-based protein powders, particularly hemp protein, are high in potassium. If you have not been monitoring your potassium levels regularly, adding plant protein to your diet can contribute to a Potassium spike which can be harmful. (Conversely, if your levels are low, this addition could help you balance your Potassium levels.) Long story short, make sure that you are having regular bloodwork while you are on this medication, and this 3-day cleanse can be a great asset to helping you maintain a great health balance. Wishing you the best of luck and health.
Wanted to know what type of foods can you eat while on the kick start detox or snacks too
Hi Ana,
During your three day cleanse, try to avoid any processed sugars, caffeine, alcohol, and gluten. This gives your body three days to heal some of the damage done by eating a Standard American Diet.
Even though it’s very difficult, try not to snack during your three day detox. This will maximize your ability to clean out your digestive system and remove any build-up.
When you are planning your meals, remember that the prebiotic shake serves as your breakfast and starts revving your metabolism. For lunch and dinner, don’t overload your digestive system with too many different types of food.
During your detox, you should be eating vegetables and your choice of grains, beans, and animal protein. For each meal choose foods from two of these categories, but be mindful of how you are pairing your foods. Combine vegetables with either grains, beans, or animal protein, but do not pair animal protein, grains or beans together.
Is it normal to have a headache when on the 3-day cleanse?
Unfortunately, caffeine withdrawal and headaches can go hand in hand. Check with your doctor if it feels like something more, and make sure that you are drinking plenty of water. It should pass in a day or so, as your body adjusts.
I have just started this detox and just have the dinner drink left for Day 2. I am feeling extremely bloated and super puffy. Is this normal? If anything, I am putting on weight. I drink insane amounts of water daily ( like 4 liters or more). I do have a pretty bad headache. I have to say, I still get super hungry on this. I have not yet been able to go to the bathroom nor do I have the urge. Anyone have this same thing happen to them? Will I feel better once the cleanse is over? I am about to give up, but dont want to.
Consider checking in with your doctor if you are feeling unwell, especially if you start feeling dizzy. It sounds like you may be drinking TOO much water. It’s a phenomenon common in distance runners who overhydrate during a race and end up with an electrolyte imbalance from too little sodium. If your sodium levels are low, you may feel swollen (especially in your hands and forearms) tired, and stiff. If that sounds familiar, try sprinkling some salt under your tongue. Then, decrease your fluid intake to a just a bit more than you would normally drink. Let us know how you make out. Feel better!
What dressing would you use for salads? Is oil and vinegar salt and pepper ok?
Oil and vinegar salt and pepper is fine. Try to stick with oliver oil and coconut oil for the duration of your cleanse. FYI: the new post with a few meal plan recommendations is up!
Dear Smeagol
When I did this detox the first time I only felt and saw results on day 3 so I hope you were able to stick with it. I did it for 4 days and am starting it again for a second time. I did lose weight and inches and felt much better except for the headaches. I felt the headaches were a result of caffeine withdrawal as Peaceful Planet said; someone else mentioned perhaps it is the toxins being released from your body as well that can cause the headaches?
That’s exactly right. When your body is detoxing, you might notice those toxins leaving your body in a variety of ways. Some people notice headaches, some have a bit of digestive upset, while others have reported body odor, sweating, and changes in urine. This too shall pass.
Can you provide a sample menu or two of what to eat at lunch or dinner while on this 3 day cleanse?
Hi Gigi,
This is a great idea. I have gotten a lot of requests for food ideas and just found that the Dr. Oz site was rather lacking in this area. I will compile some more research from Dr. Junger today. I will put together a sample menu and some more information on the specific dietary measures that go along with the three day detox. It should be posted by this evening. Thanks for the question! (If you have any more questions or tips, send them in and I will be sure to include them in my report.)
That would be great Peaceful Planet. I have a question; would it be ok to mix Dr. Junger’s three day detox vitamins with the Perfect Planet Green Coffee?
I would advise against adding anything new to your supplement regimen while you are doing a detox, but starting Perfect Green Coffee right after you finished your jumpstart detox is a great idea. You body will be primed and ready to start shedding pounds and your intestines will be cleaned out, making your supplements more bioavailable/easily absorbed into your bloodstream. (This particular detox also suggests eliminating ALL caffeine, which, although very low, is present in green coffee.)
I am on the 3rd day of my cleanse and while it has not been easy at time because of the hunger pangs and headaches, I am glad I have done it. I do want to continue but am concerned that whole food groups are left out of the eating plan (particularly dairy). How is this compensated in the diet?
What can I substitute for the almond milk (nut allergy)?
Thanks!
Either rice milk or hemp milk would be a great substitution. Almond milk is pretty low in protein, so the nutritional exchange does not leave a deficit.
Thank you!
Can you eat fruit during the detox. Small amount of course.
Grapes in particular
For this short 3-Day cleanse, try not to snack in between meals and stick to the list. (For the other 362 days of the year though, those grapes are an awesome healthy snack choice!) Having your stomach be partially empty will help you to more effectively digest food, and participating in a cleanse will help you change your eating habits. One of Dr. Junger’s recommendations is to add more protein powder to your shakes if you are feeling hungry during the day.
If you follow Dr. Junger’s 21-day Clean Program Cleanse, you are able to eat clean foods on the approved list which does include fruits, vegetables, and nuts.
Could coconut milk be substituted for almond milk?
Hi Leigh,
Coconut milk can absolutely be substituted for almond milk. There is a small difference in the protein content (only a few mg) but they are otherwise comparable.
can you eat a shake for your dinner meal during the 3 day detox?
Check out the meal plan ideas blog here: http://blog.nourishingworld.com/2013/06/18/dr-oz-3-day-cleanse-meals-and-supplements/ It’s best to use the shake as a breakfast and prepare your other two meals based on the guidelines there. Having easy-to-digest foods in your stomach helps to clear the digestive system, pushing waste along and setting you on a path to more regular digestive function. Dr. Junger has a more strict detox plan that cuts food out and for a longer period than the three days, but it is quite a bit more taxing on your time and efforts. Is there a reason you wanted to forego meals on this plan?
Since acid reflux med is a stomach blocker,is it possible for the nutrients to absorb into your stomach lining on this detox?
Hi Marie,
Acid reflux medications are protein pump inhibitors, meant to treat the pain of GERD by eliminating acid from the stomach. If used long term, they can cause a wave of nutritional deficiencies due to nutrient malabsorption. Taking a PPI blocks intrinsic factor, making it difficult for the body to absorb Vitamin B12. It also blocks iron and makes it difficult for the body to process calcium, transport magnesium, or absorb folic acid and zinc.
So, while it’s true that acid reflux meds make it difficult to absorb nutrients, doing a cleanse might be a great way to reboot your digestive system and help reinfuse your boy with all of those essential vitamins and minerals. Talk you your doctor about your plan first, and consider coconut oil and manuka honey for gut repair as a more natural and long-term solution. Good luck and be well!
Hi Colleen ,,thank-you for responding . I did the detox for 4days and I did feel a whole better , even though I have been on acid reflux meds for two months now .i just read all about these meds and learnt how harmful they can be for absorbing nutrition . I was wondering if it’s not doing any good doing the detox if im taking the reflux pills or try stay off them for three s and do it again? Any insight you have is greatly appreciatled . Also seeing my doctor in two weeks ,, see what he has to say .. Never told him I already did the detox ..
Hi Marie,
First, you need to talk to your doctor because my advice certainly is not a sound substitute for your doctor’s, who has your entire medical history and your best interest at mind.
I guess we’re looking at two concerns here: eliminating medication from your day-to-day and returning your body to a nutritionally-sound place. Doing a detox while on your meds isn’t completely fruitless, and some of those nutrients were being absorbed, but you will certainly see better results if you were not on them. Discontinuing them abruptly for a period of time isn’t the best choice, since they need to flush out of your system–completely and gradually–before you can really start fresh.
No matter what, don’t discontinue taking your meds without a doctor-assisted taper. The meds have been completely eliminating acid from your stomach for two months. Stopping without gradually tapering yourself off, allowing your body to become accustomed to the normal acid in your GI tract, would cause you a great deal of trouble, even if you weren’t recovering from erosion damage.
I’m assuming that your doc put you on these meds because you were complaining of heartburn, and that being on this medication for two months has stopped your symptoms and allowed your stomach to heal. This is a wonderful thing! The next step is to get off the meds, but it has to be done right, or you will just put yourself on a carousel of medical interventions that may be impossible to hop off of.
First, you need to set yourself up for success. I mentioned coconut oil before, and the reason for that is that coconut oil is a healthy MCT that will naturally coat your stomach and intestines and has an abundance of anti-viral and antibiotic properties that will help you ward off infection in your newly-healed GI system. The priority is to have a good base for reintroducing those natural acids that your body was taking issue with.
Next, and hopefully with your doctor’s help, you start to gradually taper off of your meds. It may take as long as a month, and that’s ok. Again, in order to prevent that carousel of problems and interventions, you need to do this right. Reduce your dosage little by little until you don’t need it anymore. If, at any point, you start to see your symptoms return, bump your dosage back up to the last place it was without symptoms and wean yourself off from there, decreasing your dose by a smaller amount. This will allow your body to resist damage in the same way that you had experienced it before. Keep a diary of how you are feeling each day so that you can refer to it and catch any changes.
When you are off and feeling well and healthy, try a detox again. Then, you can control all of the variables at play and insure your success and wellness. In the meantime, keep taking a good, whole food multivitamin and lots of coconut oil. Cook with it, bake with it, throw it in your smoothies. Don’t worry about the fat content, it is good fat and will get you to where you need to be. You may do better with a liquid vitamin source which will be easier for you to digest.
Hi Colleen ,, thanks so much for all your information. I just want to give you an insight to what I’ve been going through. I’ve been going to see my Dr all last winter wondering what’s wrong with me for I guess a year now . He wasnt listening . One day last April ,,he had a fill in Dr,, and he listened .He sent me for a H.phylori test and it came back positive. I was so glad to understand the cause. I did the two week antibiotics then and while I was doing it ,I cut out sugars, caffeine , alcohol, bread, pasta. Mostly eat a huge organic raw salad every nite for two weeks . I lost 11 pds then .. But two months later ,, that’s when I developed acid reflux.. Weird , so I had figured that out myself. Had a bad throat problem for three months and I told my Dr I need to try acid reflux pills.
He never suggested it.. Three days later I felt myself again. But now with everything I’m aware of with all the research I’ve been doing , I want to get off these pills .. You mentioned coconut oil,, how much intake do you think is safe in a day ? Also manuka honey ,, what do you figure is a good amount daily ? I see my Dr on the 26 th this month ,, I’ll mention it to him what I’m up to but I don’t think he gets it.. Im going to suggest to him to give me a smaller dosage at a time while I clean up my act for a month or longer ,, whatever it takes. I really want do Dr Alejandro’s 3 day detox cleanse the right way next time ! thanks for your time Colleen!!!
Hi Maire,
It sounds like you are absolutely on the right track and doing a really nice hybrid care concept that includes Western Medicine when needed and natural methods when it’s not. Keep your doctor in the loop, of course. Coconut oil can just replace whatever cooking fat you are traditionally using–so instead of making a stir fry with olive oil, use coconut oil. Instead of baking muffins with butter, use coconut oil. (Some people add a tablespoon directly to their smoothie.) There were some studies on patients suffering from “leaky gut syndrome” who saw benefits at 2-3 tablespoons per day.
Manuka Honey is a special honey imported from New Zealand that has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. A study published in 2006 noted that it was as effective as antibiotics in treating H. Pylori. It is also effective at treating staph infections and strep throat. I mentioned it because a lot of people report seeing gut issue such as ulcers, gastritis, and GERD subside when they are on a Manuka Honey regiment due to the probiotic and antimicrobal properties. You would take a teaspoon a half hour before meals.
Let me know how your appointment goes next week. Best wishes for a happy, healthy holiday.
—Colleen
Hi Colleen ,, I’m back , I saw my doctor yesterday , and he’s doing some bloodwork on me to see if I’m lacking any iron , vitamin b’s-and such. He says ” he’s on acid reflux pills too and do I look like my body is starving ? ” I guess he’s too busy to listen .. Where I live , your lucky to even have a doctor . So we’re gonna look at the resuts of my tests and go from there in the new year. But in the meantime I’ve been putting organic coconut oil in my green drink every morning. Two tablespoons for the last couple of weeks and I just feel better .. I want to incorporate the manuka honey into my diet now too .. I don’t know if it’s gonna do any good absorbing into my system while I’m still on these pills but I suppose it can’t hurt. One thing ? If I’m doing the detox with the probiotic dr alejandro suggests ,, should I cut out the manuka honey while on it? Would that be over doing it ? Thanks for sharing …
So nice to hear from you, Marie. I’m thrilled to hear that you’re getting some bloodwork done. The biggest red flag is the inference that a doctor would be able to “see” their body starving for nutrients. Deficiencies aren’t something you can see right off–you can feel them and you can diagnose them with a blood test, but there aren’t a lot of visual cues per se. Keep trying. It sounds like you’re getting a very vanilla kind of doctor to warm up to some different flavors of medicine, so it sounds like you need to just keep working with him. In the meantime, how wonderful that you are feeling better!
Manuka Honey is often recommended by naturopaths as a natural approach to GERD, so it’s absolutely worth a try. I think that the anecdotal effect of helping with heartburn is really due to the gut healing that takes place when the antibiotic, antiviral, antiinflamatory properties start healing some of the damage that already exists, which is exactly what you are looking for right now. As far as taking Manuka honey in conjunction with the Clean Detox Diet, I would skip it for that three days. The probiotic is fine, but Dr. Junger advises cutting sweeteners including honey while on the diet.
You are your own best advocate, Marie. Keep researching, testing, and making changes until you feel like yourself again, and learning right beside your doctor. Wishing you happy holidays and continued healing. Talk to you soon!
So what do you do at day 4 and beyond?
Sorry for the late reply! After three days, the choice is entirely up to you. You can certainly continue to eat this way if you are feeling great and want to keep it up. Or you can block out three days of each month to do a detox and reboot. (or once or twice a year.) The best thing to do is watch how you are feeling and get into a routine that way. If, after three days, you feel great–full of energy, a few pounds lighter, less bloated, etc, you have a good barometer for moving forward. Check in with yourself once a week and compare your energy level, weight, mood, etc to this, your optimal health, and track it.
Allergic to almonds. Can u suggest a substitute for the almond milk?
Coconut milk is pretty close as far as protein content. Hemp milk is also a veritable substitute, but many people disagree with the taste.
Can you stay on the 3 day jumpstart cleanse for a longer period of time than 3 days?
This detox diet was designed by Dr. Junger, a detox specialist who often appears on the Dr. Oz show. This detox diet is a digestive cleanse, designed as a short-term diet plan to heal the gut. This can propel weight loss and increase immunity. It generally cleans the digestive system to boost efficacy. More time on the diet may not show a marked difference. You can switch to the Dr. Oz Two Week Rapid Weight Loss Diet from there. It also uses the Protein powder and a morning smoothie. Good luck!
My partner and I stumbled over here coming from a different website and thought I might check things out.
I like what I see so now i am following you. Look forward to checking out your web
page again.
Am I supposed to stop taking the supplements after the three days? Should I keep taking any of them? All of them?
All of these supplements are great for daily use. I take Perfect Plant Protein, a calcium supplement, and Prescript-Assist every day. The VeganZyme is a great supplement as well and if you already have it, you should continue it. Try to observe how you feel over the next few weeks as you take these supplements daily. Then, as you finish them, see if you feel any different. Observation is a great way to judge if something is helping you. But, many supplements need a while to show maximum benefits from taking them. It took me 3-4 weeks to notice the maximum benefits of taking Prescript-Assist daily. But, I notice the difference in a couple days if I stop taking it.
I was in an alcohol detox facility for 5 days; due to finances, couldn’t complete 28 day rehab, but here’s my problem or illness now 10 days later. I am extremely fatigued, very weak in legs and all extremities; doing all I was told to do; vit c, ginkgo bilbo ( have trouble focusing when reading or in a AA meeting). But on the brighter side, I’ve been able to only take my blood pressure pills once a day now (1st time in 25 years)!
So the issues w/ the sluggishness and fatigue is making my life hard to handle; I’m a nanny/housekeeper, on my feet all day 8-10 hours normally at a trot; but past 10 days, it’s barely a crawl!!!
Would sincerely appreciate any wisdom and knowledge you could give me. I guess I should tell you also I live on a fixed income, budget is pretty tight..
Thanking you in advance!!!
You have multiple problems, so I need to recommend multiple products. Firstly, check your vitamin C, is it Ascorbic Acid. If it is, then you are taking synthetic Vitamin C and not real Vitamin C from food sources. We sell two excellent Whole Food Vitamin C products that should do the trick. Catie’s Whole Food Vitamin C Plus.
There are a couple other supplements that come to mind that may be of help to you. One of the best supplements for all day energy is Fermented Cod Liver Oil. The Green Pasture Cod Liver Oil is the best one out there because they don’t use heat or chemical processes which destroy some of the vital components in the oils, including the vitamins and omegas. You cannot substitute cheap cod liver oil for the Green Pasture and get anywhere near the same results.
I also think Perfect Rhodiola Rosea would be a good supplement for you. It is an adaptogenic herb. This means it helps your body adapt to whatever stresses you are experiencing at any given time. In other words, it can help with many different things going on in the body at any given time. The last supplement I would like to recommend is Perfect Aquatic Greens. This is a 50/50 combination of top quality Spirulina and Chlorella powders. This is an excellent natural detoxifier for the body. Also it is naturally loaded with all the B vitamins. I actually recommend this for anyone looking for a B-Complex vitamin. A deficiency in b vitamins can result in fatigue, shakiness, mood disturbances, muscle weakness, and low blood pressure among other things. It comes in a powder or capsule form for your convenience. I hope we have helped you find something that can help. Peace!
